Nick and Yioda met in the university library and it was definitely love at first sight! Whilst in Dubai and over dinner at the Burj Al Arab Hotel during dessert which was chocolate cake (Yioda’s favourite!) in between the scattered rose petals on her plate she could see something sparkling. To her surprise and astonishment it was a sparkling engagement ring Nick had asked the waiters to place there before dinner! Nick proposed and of course Yioda accepted! The ceremony was held at The Greek Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist and the reception followed at The Regency Banqueting Suite London (pg.35 ). Here they share their big day with you!

The dress: I found my dress in Losners St. Albans. It was the first dress I tried on and I fell in love with it. I tried on several more dresses and the first was the one! It was a Hollywood Dreams dress split into a bustier and a meringue skirt. I felt like a princess. The bustier was embroidered with lace, pearls and diamantes. The skirt had a two meter trail scattered with roses and diamantes.

The accessories: My tiara was made from Swarovski Crystals and was from the Olympia Wedding Show. My earrings and bracelet were gifts from my maid of honour and just what I wanted as they were big, sparkly and matched my dress perfectly. My veil was two meters long, detachable and scattered with Swarovski Crystals. I bought my shoes from Carvella, they were peep toe and also matched my dress with pearls and diamonds. I absolutely loved wearing them and dresses with diamantes under the bust and matching pearl and diamond bracelets and earrings.

The ushers: All the ushers wore black suits with white shirts, cream waistcoats and cravats also hired from Tux ‘n’ Tails St. Albans.

The ceremony: We had a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony where a good friend of ours Harri chanted for us which was beautiful and a very special gift.

The reception: The reception was held at The Regency Baqueting Suite (pg.35). All the staff there were superb. Very organized, helpful and we knew from the beginning that our wedding reception would be safe in their hands. Our venue was decorated by Fatos at Cupid Creations. They supplied the sparkly dance floor, fairy light backdrop and ceiling canopy. Flowers were created by Hatice of Lily and Lace. She did a fantastic job and listened to all our ideas creating exactly what we asked for.

Special moment: We hired a separate musical act called Sing4Me to sing our first dance song ‘I Swear’. It was magical. Diastello were also amazing singing a mixture of modern and traditional Greek and English songs all night.

Special touch: We wanted to give each table a name but could not decide on what theme to settle with. We then realised that we both liked chocolate so we named each table after a different chocolate. As a gift to our guests we also put a box of the chocolates on each table. It went down a treat according to our guests!

The cake: The cake was made by Debbie Delicieux Cakes. It was amazing. It was a four tier cake made of chocolate and vanilla sponge. The top tier was carrot cake which we saved for ourselves (yummy!). Between each tier we had a decorative tier of two gold hearts with lights. Each tier was decorated with a ribbon and brooch. The top tier had a Swarovski pair of swans whose heads made a heart when put together and looked very pretty on the cake.

The photographer: Our beautiful photos were taken by Gavin Hart who captured some intimate and special moments throughout the day.
